For Your Eyes Only

Directed by John Glen

After the excess of Moonraker, this film pulled Bond back to earth — a taut recovery mission with a real-world Cold War edge. The Lotus Esprit Turbo, successor to the Wet Nellie of The Spy Who Loved Me, makes a brief but memorable entrance — before Bond triggers its self-destruct system to stop thieves nicking it. A joke that became one of the series' most beloved moments.
