The stories behind the world's greatest cars on screen.
The Picture Car Club is an editorial archive dedicated to the vehicles that have defined cinema — documented with the same care as the films in which they appeared.
What we are
The Picture Car Club exists to document, preserve and celebrate the cars that have shaped film history. Not as props or production footnotes — but as characters in their own right, with stories worth telling properly.
We publish long-form essays on the vehicles and the people behind them. Alongside each piece, we build archive records — cars, films, directors, stunt coordinators, locations — cross-referenced and growing with every story we tell.
How we work
Every story begins with a question worth answering. Why did a Highland Green Mustang change the language of action cinema? What made the Mini the only possible car for The Italian Job? The editorial argument comes first — the archive record follows from it.
We research from primary sources where we can. We write for readers who love film and cars in equal measure, and who don't need either explained to them.
The archive is curated, not comprehensive. We cover what we can cover well.
Who we are
The Picture Car Club was founded by Daniel Gosling — a British actor and writer with credits across film and television, and a lifelong interest in the intersection of automotive and cinema history.
The project draws on professional experience working within film and television, and a conviction that the vehicles which appear on screen deserve to be understood in the context of the productions that put them there.
