The BMW Z3 Roadster's appearance in GoldenEye is one of the most famous product placements in cinema history — and one of the most lucrative. The car appeared on screen in November 1995 before a single customer had taken delivery of a production model. BMW reported 9,000 pre-orders within days of the film's release. The Z3 had essentially been launched by a James Bond film. It has never been equalled as a piece of automotive product placement.
