Hornet X

White · Sports Coupé

The AMC Hornet X would be a footnote in automotive history but for one extraordinary moment. In The Man with the Golden Gun, stunt co-ordinator W.J. Milligan and Cornell University aeronautics professor Raymond McHenry used a computer — for the first time ever in stunt planning — to calculate the precise speed and angle required for a 360-degree barrel-roll jump over a river. The car landed dead on target. The moment made cinema history.
